AI, OT and Cybersecurity – Insights from Fortinet Accelerate 2025

A week in Berlin filled with cybersecurity, AI, and exciting discussions about the future of networking. This year, Fortinet Accelerate moved from Las Vegas and Orlando to Europe – a smart move for those of us who don’t always have the time to cross the Atlantic.

Together with over 4,000 participants, I had the chance to explore new technical solutions, ask questions directly to Fortinet’s experts, and connect with industry peers. Here are some of my key takeaways – and why I’m looking forward to an even stronger partnership with Fortinet going forward.

1. AI that actually makes a difference

Fortinet showcased two AI-powered tools that really stood out to me:

  • Forti AI Assistant is a gamechanger for those of us working close to network operations. It acts like an expert colleague – always ready to support with troubleshooting and analysis. I see huge potential in using it to quickly help junior consultants level up.
  • Forti AIOps impressed with its real-time analytics and self-healing capabilities. It continuously suggests improvements, helping create a more stable and secure network environment. For organizations with limited operational resources, this is a major leap forward.

Together, these tools allow us to build a more proactive and intelligent security architecture – without always needing to scale with more people.

2. OT security – where IT meets industry

Another area I explored during the week was security in OT environments (Operational Technology). And it’s clear: Fortinet is making serious investments in this space.

They provide a robust ecosystem that connects IT and OT – without compromising on security. A great example is FortiPAM (Privileged Access Management) and FortiSRA (Secure Remote Access). These tools ensure that only the right people access sensitive systems, at the right time – which is crucial in both IT and OT environments.

Combined with next-generation firewalls, support for industrial protocols, and tools like FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, Fortinet enables a transparent, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure.

3. The future is already here

What struck me most during the week was how fast everything is moving. AI is no longer just about data collection – it acts, analyzes, and recommends solutions in real time. This isn’t a trend on the horizon anymore – it’s happening now.

I went to Berlin with high expectations – and they were met. I came back with fresh inspiration, hands-on tools, and even more confidence that we at Advania have the right partnerships in place to help our customers build secure, modern, and resilient IT and OT environments.
